To start with the owner/manager seemed to be accommodating and friendly, after checking in ran into him in the hall and he said that if there is anything we need let him know and he would do his best. Little did we know that his true colours would show Friday night went fine the rooms were not as nice as on his website the room my daughter and her friend was in was disgusting the bathroom was horrid but we were there for a ball tournament and to have some fun. Saturday night at about 730ish I was half asleep on my bed when all of a sudden I heard the owner/manager yelling and screaming at my sister and was getting very aggressive with her clapping his hands in her face saying he was going to charge us a 1000 dollars for the damages we caused for having a crock pot in the room and the smell was through everything and we had 10 minutes to get out or he was going to call the police. Even though we were packing our stuff to leave he continued to yell at us and clapping his hands in her face. He took pictures of the crockpots that were not plugged in but did have chilli and meatballs in them that we had warmed up in the vehicles in the outlets they have now as we were going game to game we had brought them in the room as it was easier for everyone to eat. Did not realize we were not supposed to have food in our rooms seeing as they provide microwaves and fridges. So if we had just heated the chilli in 10 to 20 bowls in the microwave there wouldn't have been a smell? We decided to call the police ourselves as we felt he was being unreasonable and had been very aggressive. The officer showed up and we told him what happened and the he proceeded to go and talk to the owner/manager he told the officer it was a fire code issue . Ok I can see that but that's not what he told us he was just after money for the damage the smell from food . He then told the officer that we could stay if we paid 200 dollars to have the room repainted. I do apologize for the smell of our delicious chilli and meatballs over powering the dirty moldy smell you were going for in your motel. The officer then told us that he wouldn't recommend this place to a stray dog and that you wouldn't believe what goes on there. Wish we had known before going there . So it's safe to say that we won't be back and would not recommend this place. Worst experience ever.
Not worth it. We paid 200 $For one night ,even it was long weekend, we expected better than It was. For 4 people, there was only 2 soaps, one shampoo and one single coffee. Beds very ordinary and the room not sounded welcome, and the hair dryer did not work properly. Never go again even for half of money that we paid.a
I would rate this place -100 If I could. The manager was extremely rude by making racist comments about my Latino accent, stating i was drunk due to my accent. I had been driving the whole day to arrive to this place so there was no possibility i was drunk. Moreover, this man called me criminal, marijuana smoker and drunk just because of my latino background, saying that all Latinos are like that. Once he charged the fee for the room that we had booked in advance he denied to give us the key and told us to leave the place right away if not he will call the police. I didn't know that being Latino was reason to be discriminated and humilliated.He denied to give me my credit card receipt and just took my money. I can't believe how in 2018, there are still people who judge others in this way.
Enjoyed my 2 night stay. The owner is super nice. their wifi is the best I've ever seen at a hotel, better than big chain hotels.
Very reasonable rates - beds were comfy - each room has AC/Heat, Coffee maker, Hair dryer, free WiFi, huge flat screen TV, telephone. Staff were all super friendly.The building and rooms are dated; but that doesn't matter with everything that is included. Thanks for making our time in Owen Sound better!
